Ken's Quick Answer:

One of Ken’s favorite restaurants has a vinyl floor that’s, sadly, falling apart. You can see several large cracks in high-traffic areas, a problem that is not easy to fix. Don’t choose a retailer or contractor who will do a sloppy job—you may save a little money up front, but your floor is much more likely to fail.

Ken's In-Depth Answer:

I like to eat out... all the time! I also spend a lot of time looking at the floor in those restaurants. I was very disturbed to see the luxury vinyl plank floors in one of my favorite restaurants.

In the photo below, you can see that this is a click luxury vinyl plank floor. It's cracked, dirty, damaged and soiled. The two places where the problems are the worst are at the entrance into the restaurant and the doorway into the seating area. That makes sense because there's likely to be a lot of foot traffic in those areas!

If you want to avoid this problem, you need to ask yourself: 1.) Is my floor prepared properly? 2.) Should you use a click LVP? Or, should you smooth out the subfloor and use a glue-down product?

With a properly prepared subfloor, glue-down products normally last for a long time, even with heavier foot traffic. If you do the job right, you won't end up with a problem like this.

We have 20+ years of experience helping local customers find the perfect vinyl plank floor and installing it with pride.
