Buying Floors? Make SURE to Keep an Extra Box

Ken's Quick Answer:

You may not care for 18 years, but Ken’s ecstatic bamboo customer from 2006 proves the point. Keeping extra planks or tiles allows for a simple repair—instead of redoing a whole floor.

Ken's In-Depth Answer:

In 2006, we sold a customer bamboo. Bamboo was all the rage back then. Now? Almost nobody buys it and almost nobody sells it. Here's the problem: Years later, the customer moved a wall—leaving a whole in the floor. They asked nicely, "Can I still get the same bamboo floor that you sold me back in 2006?"

I got them to look up in their attic and (sure enough) they had a leftover box. So, why am I telling you this? It has nothing to do with the bamboo, but everything to do with the leftover box.

A lot of times, people aren't happy that they have a leftover box after a flooring installation. But you never know when that box is going to be useful. It's great for a patch or repair without having to install an entirely new floor.

It's a good rule to remember and it applies to all types of floors.
